Our Services
-
Direct 1:1 therapy with your child in the home, school, or community setting, to teach new skills through the use of naturalistic environment training and play based learning. Home and community based therapy provides a unique opportunity for skill generalization.
-
Caregiver Training equips caregivers with the tools they need to understand why challenging behavior may be occurring, and how to effectively manage it across environments.
-
A Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is the process of collecting information to identify why challenging behavior may be occurring, and how we can replace behaviors of concern with functional skills. FBA’s serve as the foundation for Behavior Intervention Plans, and are rooted in the theory that all behavior has a purpose (or function).
-
A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) provides guidance on how to manage challenging behavior, with the use of proactive, teaching, and consequence-based strategies.
-
Independence with self-care, including toilet training, is an essential treatment goal. We will create a customized toilet training plan to meet the needs of your child.
-
Treatment of feeding difficulties addresses challenging behavior at mealtime, food refusal, in addition to food selectivity by texture, type, and/or presentation.
-
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) gives parents the right to request educational evaluations from their school district if information is needed to determine a child’s eligibility for special education services or to revise an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). If the district fails to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), or if the parent disagrees with the results of the assessment, the parent has the right to request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) from a qualified professional not employed by the DOE.

To ensure coordination of care and generalization of skills across environments, High Point ABA prioritizes collaboration with school based providers.
We serve families throughout Dutchess, Columbia, and Ulster counties
High Point ABA creates individualized intervention goals that are meaningful to you and your child. Assessments are completed upon enrollment which help determine goal selection. Learning goals may include language and communication, social and play development, perspective taking, and executive functions. Barriers to learning, such as challenging behavior, are also identified and addressed within treatment.
